While not a problem for drive installations with normal cable length or lower system voltages, AC inverter drives, applied on 480 VAC systems with extremely long cable runs between the drive and the motor, have been known to cause problems with motor bearings, insulation breakdown, and other issues caused by the combination of cables impedance and the dv/dt generated by transistor switching.

The usual solution heretofore, has been to install peripheral filters and other gear to reduce the effects. The better solution and usually at less total cost, is the new G7 drive with 3-lever inverter design. The G7 is the world's first commercially available drive with this design.
