(October 17, 2011) Yaskawa America, Inc. – Drives and Motion Division is pleased to announce the release of the Indexer and Functional Safety Options for its Sigma-5 servo amplifier product family. Indexer Option Provides point to point positioning without complex programming. This plug-and-play system allows you to develop a high performance application solution with minimal effort. The configuration tool SigmaWin+ provides a wizard that will interact with you in a dialog format to help you setup and change the settings for your application. Up to 256 positioning points can be programmed in an easy to edit program table. A wide range of functions such as positioning, jogging, homing, registration, backlash compensation, and programmable signal outputs are available. The amplifier package comes with 19 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs. Interface with host controller or PLC via discrete I/O or ASCII serial commands (RS-422 or RS-485). Functional Safety Option Expands the functions of the Sigma-5 SERVOPACK providing the functionality necessary to handle the different safe machine states required in your application. The Safe Torque Off (STO) function is integrated into the standard SERVOPACK. Additional functions Safe Stop 1 (SS1), Safe Stop 2 (SS2), and Safely Limited Speed (SLS) can be accessed by choosing the advanced safety option.
