Sigma-5
This class will give users with Sigma-2 experience an in-depth look into the functions and capability of the Sigma-5 amplifier. Students will learn how to configure the amplifier for a variety of application types using desktop demos, and will tune several mechanical systems. An emphasis is placed on hands-on exercises, which comprise almost half of the class. Class topics are outlined below.

Product Overview
Sigma-5 Motors
Sigma-5 Amplifiers
SigmaWin+ Software Improvements (Including “Setup Wizard”)
Torque, Speed, and Position control applications
Advanced Functions (including “Safety Function”, “SEMI F47 Standard”, “Test Without Motor”, “Overload Detection”)
Tuning Functions (Including “Program Jog”, “Tuning-Less”, “Advanced Auto-Tuning”, and “One-Parameter Tuning”)
Application tuning and performance measurement (Inlcuding “SigmaWin + Trace”, “Mechanical Analysis”, “Vibration Suppression”)
Certification Test

Class Material:
Students will receive a copy of the class training manual as well as selected product user and instruction manuals in paper and/or electronic format.

Prerequisites:
Experience with IEC61131-3 and PLCopen programming is recommended. A good working knowledge of the binary and hexidecimal numbering systems is also highly recommended. This class will NOT concentrate on programming techniques, but rather it will concentrate on how different controller features work individually.

Each student must complete the MP2300Siec eLearning module and submit the eLearning quiz to be graded by Yaskwa TTS before coming to class.

If you do not have a high-speed Internet connection and would like a copy of this e-Learning Module on CD, please send an e-mail to training@yaskawa.com with your request. Please make sure to include your name, company name and address.

Each student must have completed the Sigma-2 Applications class or passed the Sigma-2 Applications CLEP test. Students must have a basic knowledge of what a servo system is and how it is applied. Because this is a technical class, a technical degree and/or several years of motion control experience are recommended.
