| Question: | What are the differences between the set-up of a GPD515/G5 and a F7 drive on DeviceNet when using CM053 or CM056 option cards? |
| Answer: | Recently there have been a number of questions on setting up the CM056 DeviceNet interface for the CIMR-F7U drive.
The majority of the CM056 firmware is the same between the G5 and F7 drives. This includes:
- DeviceNet Motor Class
- DeviceNet Control Supervisor Class
- DeviceNet AC Drive Class
- DeviceNet Polled Configuration (Producing Input Connections and Consuming Output Connections)
The process of setting F7 DeviceNet assembly connections is identical to the description in the G5 DeviceNet Technical Manual (TM4556) on pages 7-4 to 7-5.
If using an EDS-based configuration tool such as RS Networx, select EDS Parameter 28 (Consuming Assembly).
Enter the desired polled consuming assembly. The assemblies are 20, 21, 22, 23, 120, 121, 122, 123, and 126.
Save this value to the drive.
Use the same procedure for EDS Parameter 29 (Producing assembly). The assemblies are 70, 71, 72, 73, 130, 131, 132, and 136.
If using a node configuration tool such as DeviceNet Manager, define the DeviceNet path as
Class 5, Instance 2, Attribute 101 (decimal). This is 5 / 2 / 65 in hex. Write the desired assembly number to this byte value.
Use the same procedure for EDS Parameter 29 (Producing assembly). The hexadecimal path is 5 / 2 / 64.
Example:
Use assembly 132 as an input and assembly 120 as an output.
| Decimal Path | Hexadecimal Path | Decimal Value | Hexadecimal Value |
| 5/2/100 | 5/2/64 | 120 | 78 |
| 5/2/101 | 5/2/65 | 132 | 84 |
For information about RUN/STOP control from DeviceNet, see the G5 DeviceNet manual (TM4556), page 10-6.
Many of the Yaskawa drive parameters use the same DeviceNet Logical address. Because the register mapping is different between the G5 series and the F7 series, drive Memobus addresses are different for some parameters. This is the reason the G5 DeviceNet Technical Manual causes confusion when used with an F7 drive.
An EDS-based configuration tool will include the correct parameter to Memobus address mapping. EDS parameter access should present no problems.
When a configuration tool that uses the DeviceNet path, the F7 path value are not necessarily the same as the G5 values.
For example, G5 parameter E2-09 uses the DeviceNet path 107/1/21. On the F7, E2-09 uses the DeviceNet path 107/1/21.
When setting running an F7, address must be Class 107, Instance 1, Attribute 21. |
