Yaskawa to Exhibit at AHR Expo 2017 Booth# C1140

Jan 10, 2017

Yaskawa’s Z1000U HVAC Matrix drive employs a direct AC-to-AC design that eliminates the rectification circuits and DC bus in conventional VFDs. The design uses nine bi-directional insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) to convert 60Hz input voltage to variable frequency output, thus eliminating the input current distortion that results from charging the DC bus in conventional drives.AHR Expo 2017 Booth C1140

Additionally, when the motor runs at full speed, the Matrix can connect the input directly to the output without any additional components. Testing has shown the Z1000U to consistently deliver 98% efficiency, a .98 true power factor, and harmonics below 5%.

The Z1000U Matrix efficiency provides dramatics energy savings as compared to conventional VFDs. Its near unity power factor helps avoid power company surcharges. The single-component design means up to 70% reduced wiring and 65% reduced size as compared to other typical harmonics mitigation solutions such as multi-pulse transformers or active front ends. While VFDs continue to be a primary means to reduce energy and improve building system efficiency by eliminating mechanical throttling, the Z1000U Matrix improves further their benefits while minimizing harmonics.

The Z1000U Matrix is a valuable means for building owners to strive toward “green” and meet energy efficiency goals that reduce their carbon footprint and help meet corporate sustainability goals. It will also contribute toward LEED credits and be a key technology to help buildings attain Energy Star Certification.

Presentation
Come see our presentation, "Applying VFDs to Chillers", part of the Exhibitor Product & Technology Presentations, presented by Larry Gardner, Yaskawa Product Manager, in Theater A on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:15 AM. Learn how chillers with VFDs will dramatically reduce energy costs, extend equipment life and maximize customer comfort.
