The E7 Drive was designed exclusively for Commercial HVAC applications. All features were designed for this purpose, including Building Automation communications.

Metasys N2, APOGEE FLN and Modbus were embedded. EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP and LonWorks were plug-in options. The drive was plenum rated for variable torque applications. Anti-windmilling, motor preheat, energy-savings, and PI setpoint control were standard. Many options were available.

What will happen if there is only .5'' clearance from either top or bottom of the drive to an enclosure? Otherwise, an OH alarm (cooling fin overheat) may occur. Also, a minimum 1.2'' clearance (varies by model) is required on each side of the drive. What is the ambient temperature derating (L8-12 setting)? Posted Date: 01/22/2007 Answer: The output current capacity and the overload capabilities of the inverter depend on the ambient temperature. The higher the ambient temperature the lower is the maximum output current because the heat dissipation becomes more difficult. The overload protection function is active only when the current is above the maximum continuous output current level (112% of inverter rated current). At ambient temperatures higher than 45°C (40°C for IP20) this level will be lowered. The ambient temperature can be set in parameter L8-12. The setting range is 45°C to 60°C. Because the inverter has no IP00/20 detection the set value for L8-12 must be 5° higher than the real ambient temperature at IP20 units. When using lengthy wires with the inverter and the motor, use wires that are thick enough to assist in reducing cable loss. Drive V/f characteristics may need adjusting to compensate for cable losses . The carrier frequency should typically be reduced as follows based on the cable length. up to 50 meters: under 10kHz.
