G5HHP Drive - YAI

The G5HHP was a high horsepower AC drive. The drive was of modular design with separate rectifier and inverter sections installed in a common enclosure. The sections can be paralleled to increase capacity. The drive was available in constant torque and variable torque ratings.

The G5HHP Drive is a Legacy product and is no longer promoted in the Americas. Please see our replacement product, the A1000 Drive.

GF - Fault Code Description Posted Date: 06/08/2007 Answer: Digital Operator Display Text: GF Ground Fault Description: Designed to protect the inverter. Inverter output grounding current has exceeded 50% of the inverter rated current. Possible Cause(s): Motor lead shorted to ground, DCCT defective. Corrective Action: Remove the motor and run the inverter without the motor. Check the motor for a phase to ground short. Check the output current with a clamp on meter to verify the DCCT reading. Do Yaskawa drives have a lock-out prohibiting setting or changing of parameters? Posted Date: 06/08/2007 Answer: Yes, most all Yaskawa drives posses parameter security that helps prevent inadvertent setting changes. The instruction manuals for the drive explain this function in more detail. Use the following instructions to obtain write access for the drives described below: For the V7 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "4" or '5' allow all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" through "3" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the P5 or PC5 or GPD506 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "3" allows all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" and "2" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the G5 or GPD515 - General Purpose Drive , G5HHP - Hi Horsepower G5 Drive: Parameter A1-01 controls access to all parameters that are available in the control method being used. A setting of "Advanced" in this parameter allows all of the available parameters of the current control method to be changed. Some parameters are not available in some control methods. Does installation of an AC Drive near a large capacitor bank (power-factor correction) require special consideration? Posted Date: 10/27/2005 Answer: Yes. Capacitors are put across the AC power line to correct for lagging power factor due to inductive loads. Motors, relay coils, transformers, etc. are inductive loads. Many times capacitors are switched on and off the line as demand changes. Unfortunately, this switching results in large voltage spikes on the power line which can damage the drives rectifier circuit. To prevent damage use a 5% line reactor on the drive's input. If overvoltage faults are indicated, add dynamic braking -- this will clamp the DC bus. Can the G5 GPD515 drive in flux vector mode can run above 1750 RPM/60 Hz. If so what parameters would need to be changed to accomplish this. We only want to go to 2100 RPM/72 Hz. Can an external 24V power supply be used with the GPD515/G5 Logic Inputs? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: An Option Card is required-- part no. 46S03477-0010 -- 24V Logic Interface Card. Unlike the drive itself, this card has current-sinking inputs which allows the use of an external power supply or PLC DC output card with current-sourcing (PNP) outputs. This card plugs into the drive's Logic Input terminal block and provides screw terminals for input connection.
