	On a GPD 506/P5 Bypass unit, what is the Normal/Test switch used for and when would it be needed in an operation? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: The Normal Test switch on the front of the Bypass panel is provided to test or setup the GPD 506/P5 without actually connecting the motor. When in Test mode, the contactor on the input of the inverter is energized bringing three phase power to the inverter but the output contactor is left de-energized. The digital operator can then be used for programming or to issue a run command so that the inverter can be checked for normal operation. Note: A fault message will be displayed on the digital operator when the Test Switch is in the Test position while in Drive mode. This switch should be in the Normal position in Drive mode. Test mode can be used when the Drive/Off/Bypass switch is in either the Off or Bypass position. 	I want the motor never to run below a certain speed and I am using PID, but there may be times when this low speed will be "too much". Is there a solution for this? Posted Date: 11/29/2005 Answer: The GPD506/P5 has a feature called the "Sleep" function. This is commonly used when a pump is being utilized that cannot run below a certain speed without incurring damage to itself. Simply enter the desired "minimum" speed into parameter n094 along with the desired delay time (if any) in parameter n095. If the PID loop calls for an output lower than the value in n094, the output will go to zero until the PID loop calls for an output higher than n094. This feature can only be used when PID is enabled. Inverter output grounding current has exceeded 50% of the inverter rated current. Possible Cause(s): Motor lead shorted to ground, DCCT defective. 	Do Yaskawa drives have a lock-out prohibiting setting or changing of parameters? Posted Date: 06/08/2007 Answer: Yes, most all Yaskawa drives posses parameter security that helps prevent inadvertent setting changes. The instruction manuals for the drive explain this function in more detail. Use the following instructions to obtain write access for the drives described below: For the V7 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "4" or '5' allow all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" through "3" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the P5 or PC5 or GPD506 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "3" allows all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" and "2" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the G5 or GPD515 - General Purpose Drive , G5HHP - Hi Horsepower G5 Drive: Parameter A1-01 controls access to all parameters that are available in the control method being used. A setting of "Advanced" in this parameter allows all of the available parameters of the current control method to be changed. Some parameters are not available in some control methods.
