Can the brake coil of a brake-motor be put directly across the motor winding when the motor is run by a VFD? Posted Date: 10/27/2005 Answer: No, a brake coil should not be connected to the motor terminals of the AC drive.. Although this was common practice when the motor was controlled by an electro-mechanical contactor or disconnect from the power line, it will not work with a variable frequency drive (VFD). Not only will the brake coil cause excessive load on the VFD output, but the brake coil may burn up or not energize at all because the VFD output is variable voltage and variable frequency and is tailored to the motor, not the brake. Can the 600V models of the A1000 and P1000 be used with a 690VAC input voltage? Posted Date: 01/03/2011 Answer: No, the 600V models have an input voltage range of 500-600VAC, +10% / -15%. We do not plan to offer a 690V lower horsepower drive. The A1000 HHP drive, which is planned as the replacement for the G5 HHP, will have 480VAC and 690VAC modules. Can the 'run' contact output of the GPD 515/G5 be used to release a mechanical brake? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: Yes. The contact output (pins 9 & 10) is rated 250VAC, 1Amp or less or 30VDC, 1Amp or less. The function of contact output is programmable by parameter H2-01. Set H2-01 = 37. Can subroutines be called from "L" or "H" drawings? Posted Date: 03/05/2002 Answer: Subroutines, as called in the above question, are better described as sub-drawings. They exist in both H "High speed" and L "Low Speed" type. Each H or L drawing can have its own respective set of hierarchical levels (Parent, Child, Grandchild), there are three levels available. H = parent, H.01 = child, H.01.01 = grandchild. Can SigmaSize be used to select motors for rotary tables or other applications with loads which don't rotate about the center of the motor shaft? Can PLCs and controllers from different manufacturers communicate to the same HMI unit? Can MotionWorks IEC Project Archives be created Offline? Posted Date: 02/22/2017 Answer: Yes. MotionWorks IEC development software revision 2.5.0 and higher can create Project Archives while offline. The offline Project Archive feature is very useful when a machine has been put into production and small changes to the IEC application program are required. By sending a Project Archive file to the machine user, maintenance technicians can load the updated program into the controller using the MPiec Controller’s built-in Web Server. Can JUSP-NS100 (Sigma II, Mechatrolink I option module) and JUSP-NS115 (Sigma II, Mechatrolink II option module) co-exist on the same network with an MP2000 series controller as the master? Posted Date: 12/19/2006 Answer: Yes. Mechatrollink I and Mechatrolink II modules can co-exist in the same network, but all devices will be restricted to perform at the Mechatrolink I level. The JUSP-NS115 must be preset to a communication speed of 4M-baud and a packet size of 17-bytes. These are essentially Mechatrolink 1 motion settings. Once this is done, the MP2300 auto configuration will recognize the Modules on the network. In order to set the JUSP-NS115 to commutate using Mechatolink1 motion settings, the dip switches 1 and 2 on SW2 must be changed from ON to OFF before control power is applied to the Servopack.
