	What’s the maximum number of axes that could be controlled and configured by a Compass solution? Posted Date: 05/21/2020 Answer: It depends on the application, and also on the group mechanism configured in the MotionWorks IEC Pro Hardware Configuration. For most systems described below, axes can be operated by more than one motor in a shared load (prime axis) configuration, which is supported and transparent to a Compass solution. G-Codes X Y Z A B C and E are linked to world space Cartesian and Rotational axes, E is linked to the active extruder when configured as a 3D Printer. The use of a machine requiring A and B rotational motion requires an MP3000iec series controller ending in part number –ER. -ER release is expected Summer 2020 with UL certification For 3D printing, typically a three-axis gantry plus up to three extruders can be configured. For Milling, typically a three-axis gantry plus auxiliary axes for tangent and up to three spindles can be configured. Any group configured in the MotionWorks IEC Pro Hardware Configuration can be controlled by Compass and G-Code. Because the Compass solution is highly customizable, any number of additional (typically unsynchronized) axes can be added and customized for operations outside of the traditional G-Code use case, only limited by the number of axes the MP3000iec series controller can support. 	What would cause an "06" communications error code in an HMI when talking to one or more NS600(s)? Posted Date: 11/21/2001 Answer: Error code 06 in the HMI indicates a Response Error. It could be caused by unmatched settings, noise, or response out of range. It is important to insure all the communications parameters are properly fixed. Please verify the following: 1) The HMI is expecting an "OK" response from every command sent to the NS600. This is possible by setting Pn802 = 1. 2) The HMI does not want an echo from the NS600 on characters sent. This can be set by Pn800 to 0 or 5. Most common example: If using single or muti-drop 4 wire RS422, no echo is possible by setting Pn800 = 0. (note that the delimiter expected at the HMI is a CRLF). 3) Baud rate settings must match in HMI and NS600. Most common example: if using 19.2kbaud, then setting of Pn801 = 1. 4) Address switch settings must be fixed properly. NS600 address swich must match the address reference per data field in HMI. 5) Verify wiring diagram vs actual wiring (see alternate FAQ). Terminator must be placed in the last physical node (100ohm). Maximum distance is 3m (RS232C) and 50m (RS422/485). 6) Transmission protocol format must be matched at: 1 start bit, 7 databit (ASCII), 1 parity bit (even), 1 stop bit, no XON/XOFF control, half duplex. 7) System Field Ground must be installed properly. Each SGDH must have a properly sized ground wire ran to a single point in the control cabinet. HMI should use the ground spade with a 14-16 AWG wire running to a single point in the control cabinet (star ground configuration). Shielding of HMI-NS600 cable should be terminated at the HMI side. Check for ground loops in the system. Note: Pn numbers can be set in the NS600 using IndexWorks Software. 	What will happen if there is only .5'' clearance from either top or bottom of the drive to an enclosure? Posted Date: 03/14/2006 Answer: There MUST be a minimum of 4.7'' clearance above and below the drive (varies by model) to allow airflow over the heat sink. Otherwise, an OH alarm (cooling fin overheat) may occur. Also, a minimum 1.2'' clearance (varies by model) is required on each side of the drive. Refer to the appropriate drives instruction manual for the mounting and clearance specifications. 	What web browser technology is supported by the MPiec Series Controllers? Posted Date: 01/02/2018 Answer: The MPiec controllers have evolved over their lifespan. The first versions only supported Internet Explorer with the classic interface. A modern interface was added and fully supported in firmware release 3.2.0 to conform to more modern browsers. The classic interface is the only interface supported by Internet Explorer and is available in all firmware versions. The attached chart shows the supported interface - firmware version combinations. Posted Date: 02/06/2009 Answer: All Yaskawa Sigma and LEGEND series amplifiers input power specifications are +10% to -15%. 10% above the highest voltage input specified will cause an overvoltage alarm, while 15% below the lowest voltage specified will cause an undervoltage alarm. For a 100-115 amplifier +10% / -15% equates to 85 VAC and 126 VAC respectively. For a 200-230 amplifier +10% / -15% equates to 170 VAC and 253 VAC respectively. For a 400-480 amplifier +10% / -15% equates to 340 VAC and 528 VAC respectively. 	What type of Errors and Alarms are on the controller? Posted Date: 02/18/2009 Answer: 1. Pn002 not correctly initialized: This alarm may appear on the controller before on starting a new project. This alarm can be removed by going online with the Configuration Tool (CT) and saving the desired configuration to the controller and project and finally cycling power to the controller. On reboot, the controller should be free of the Pn002 not initialized alarm. 2. I/O Driver initialization error: This alarm is caused because the configured drivers did not find the I/O devices when the PLC was run. The most common cause for this is missing I/O devices and/or EtherNet IP, MODBUS TCP devices (from the configuration saved on the controller). User may have to reconnect the disconnected device or re-configure the controller through the configuration tool, save and cycle power. 3. WatchDog Alarm: The scan time of the task is not large enough for the task to complete one scan. Make the scan time larger by going to Task> Settings> Scan Time. Make sure that mechatrolink axes are not being enabled in the very first scan of the project.
