In MotionWorks IEC Pro, what is the difference between a 'zipped' and a 'sealed' project? Posted Date: 07/03/2013 Answer: There are three ways to save a MotionWorks IEC Pro project: 1. The normal method of saving a project is saving it as a standard project (project.mwt). This saves the project in a readily useable format, with the main project file called *.mwt and an associated folder with all code, graphical elements, set up files, etc . In this format, the code can be edited and debugged readily, however, it is difficult to share the project with others in this format. 2. When a project is to be archived and / or shared with others, create a zipped project (project.zwt). This format compresses the project, as well as optionally including user and firmware libraries, front-end (compiled) code and graphical page layouts (see the help file in MotionWorks IEC Pro for more information about these options). Before a zwt file it can be used, it must be unzipped using MotionWorks IEC Pro. This will uncompress the project into the .mwt format. 3. In MotionWorks IEC Pro 2.3.0 and higher, a project can be saved as a sealed project (project.zws). This is similar to a zipped project but protects the integrity of the code. A sealed project becomes read only, and allows the programmer to share the project source code with an end user or service technician without fear that the code will be inadvertently changed. Assuming the Sealed Project version is the same as the code originally downloaded to the machine, the user can debug a machine without compiling and downloading. Tools such as Logic Analyzer and debug mode, and read/write recipes and watch window are available. The user CANNOT modify the project, and the project cannot be re-compiled (see the help file in MotionWorks IEC Pro for the complete list of benefits and restrictions of a sealed project). In MotionWorks IEC Hardware Configuration, why are the Mechatrolink III axes displayed as offline when the ServoPacks are powered up with no alarms? Posted Date: 06/05/2015 Answer: If the controller had any problems discovering the ServoPacks when powering up, the ServoPacks may have to be power cycled. The first remedy to try is power cycle the entire system. For the axes to be displayed as online, they must have been powered up before the MWiec controller. Since the controller takes several seconds to complete its power up phase, powering the entire system at the same time is fine. If there is no Startup configuration, or if any of the hardware may have been changed, check the switch settings for all ServoPacks. All Mechatrolink III devices must be configured for 48 byte packets and the assigned node numbers must be unique and in the range of 3 to 64. Next, confirm that all cables are connected correctly. The MP3000iec controllers and ServoPacks have LEDs in the Mechatrolink connector that are lit when a cable is plugged into the socket that is connected to an active node. When all devices are powered, check the LED status in all connectors. Finally, if there is a Startup configuration and all the hardware is configured correctly, check the configured response times. The configured response times must be very close to the measured response times. Values that are slightly lower, or much higher than the measured response times may cause the controller not to connect to these nodes. The measured response times can be viewed by allowing doing the following: 1) Using the web server, delete the Startup Configuration 2) Set the MWiec controller to self configure (CNFG DIP switch must be ON) 3) Using the Hardware Configuration, connect with a new project, or connect with an existing project and use the discovered configuration. 4) Refer to the Mechatrolink-III node in the Hardware Configuration to view the measured response times. In a vertical axis application, the motor trips the overtravel switch and coasts to the hard stop. What might be the cause? Posted Date: 07/23/2001 Answer: The SGDH servopack has the ability to control the stop mode when an overtravel is tripped (if overtravel switches are wired into the SGDH as recommended). The default method of stopping is to disable the motor and allow the dynamic brake to stop the motor. This method works very well in most horizontal applications, but vertical applications require a different method. When using an MP940, the SGDH overtravel function will disable the motor, even if the MP940 did not execute the disable servomotor block. In this mode, the motor will then continue to coast, and the MP940 is not able to apply torque to stop the motor (because it is not enabled). In this example, it is better to change the overtravel method to keep the motor enabled when an overtravel is tripped. This can be done by setting the overtravel stop mode Pn001.1 to 1 (default is 0). This change allows the MP940 to bring the motor to a controlled stop. I just recently added a PG board to my F7 drive, I now have a CPF06 active on my drive and it will not clear, what did I do wrong? If a variable has both an Initial Value and is marked as Retained, which value will the IEC application use after a Warm Start? What value will be used after a Cold Start? I am writing to the speed reference register using MODBUS TCP/IP for my 1000 series drive, yet U1-01 does not read properly. I can write to other registers with no problem. I am using the MOP function on the 7 series drives and on my deceleration; the drive is following the speed pot instead of the deceleration time. Why is that? PRELIMINARY: - Start with Yaskawa.com SRV-E17E47. - Proceed with AN.MTN.01 “EtherCAT Master Architecture”. - Additional topics pertaining to EtherCAT master development are below: ESI File Usage: - By reading the Yaskawa ESI file, the Yaskawa drive’s manufacturer specific objects may be visible to be read and written (example: Yaskawa drive parameters). - For SGDV, if reading the ESI file, only 1 PDO map assignment per Sync Manager assignment is allowed (due to the “exclude” tag), when in fact 2 are possible if reading the PDO information from the EEPROM. - Therefore, the recommendation is to read the ESI file for CoE objects, and then read the EEPROM for the PDO info. Network Trace Tool: - Obtain a network trace tool if a Wireshark trace can provide useful information for development. - Product: Beckhoff ET2000. A nanosecond timestamp is added to the packet. - Search ethercat.org for additional information about Wireshark usage. How many cam table points are available in the MPiec Series Controllers? Posted Date: 08/15/2013 Answer: The number of cam table points available depends on several factors, including memory allocation set through the IEC environment, the number of active cam tables at any given time, and how cams are being used by the application. The first factor is the memory allocation in the controller which only applies to the MP23xxiec. This determines how much memory is available for cam tables and how much is available for program execution. In the default memory configuration, the MP23xxiec controller has 7.5MB dedicated to active cam tables and 3.5 MB for the running memory of the IEC program. Large IEC programs, however, may require more running memory than the default, so there is an option in MotionWorks IEC to change from the default memory settings to 6.5 MB for the running memory and only 4.5MB of memory for active cam tables. This memory allocation function is not available with the MP2600iec controller because it is unlikely that a single-axis program will run into memory limits. It is also unnecessary with the MP3200iec controller because due to a much greater available memory (20MB for running cam tables and 52MB for IEC program memory). Each point in a cam table (master/follower pair) consumes 16 bytes of memory. A typical cam table may have a 360 degree master cycle and a desired resolution of 0.1 degrees (a master/follower pair ever 0.1 degrees or 3600 pairs total). This would require only 57600 bytes (0.055 MB) of memory. Even at the minimum memory settings, over 300 cam tables of this size could be active. A higher resolution would obviously require more memory. If application requirements require more cam table points than the available memory allows, there are a few options for reducing the cam table memory requirements: -- Reduce the master axis resolution for the cam table (or part of it): If the actual master position falls between two points on the cam table, the controller will automatically do a linear interpolation based on the previous and next master positions. Therefore, straight-line segments of the cam table, i.e. segments where the master and slave have a linear relationship, can be defined with only a start point and an end point. -- Use the CamGenerator function block for on-the-fly cam table generation: Often, flexible cam tables are required to allow for several different products or processes. However, a hundred different products doesn't have to mean 100 different cam tables are required. In most applications, only a few key parameters change from product to product. In these cases Yaskawa recommends calculating cam tables on-the-fly with the CamGenerator function block (found in the Cam Toolbox). -- Use the Y_ReleaseCamTable function block to free up memory from cam tables no longer needed: Cam tables will continue to take up memory even if they are no longer being used. Continuous full torque is provided at full speed with an overload capability of 120% for 60 seconds. Continuous torque at lower speeds is restricted to variable torque levels (square of percent speed). This variable torque capability is different and more restrictive than the 'normal duty' rating associated with other products such as A1000, therefore the P1000 is not appropriate for any constant torque applications. In the Clear browsing data dialog select Cached images and files and press the Clear data button. Click on refresh and the normal web page is displayed. If the browser is in incognito mode Press F12 to open Developer tools, A window will appear at the bottom of the screen.Right click on the Refresh button and select Empty Cache and Hard Reload. How is the MP940 analog input used? Posted Date: 04/20/2001 Answer: The MP940 analog input is actually wired into the SGDH amplifier [1CN pin 5 (VREF) and pin 6 (SG)], but there are registers available in the MP940 to read the value of that input. These I/O variables are listed in MW+ as "Sigma_Analog_Input" (also available in MotionWorks at address IW0001) and "Sigma_Analog_Input_Voltage". "Sigma_Analog_Input" is an integer word that has a value between -32768 and 32767, while "Sigma_Analog_Input_Voltage" is scaled as a floating point number to reflect the actual input voltage (-12.0 to +12.0). A voltage reference exceeding 12V will cause "Sigma_Analog_Input_Voltage" to be a value of 12.0 volts. Example usage: A customer wants to control the jog speed of his motor with the analog input. The jog speed should vary from -MaxSpeed to +MaxSpeed (MaxSpeed is a variable). To accomplish this, set the jog block's speed property as "Sigma_Analog_Input / 32768 * MaxSpeed". The first half of this expression (Sigma_Analog_Input / 32768) will scale the voltage so it returns a value of -1 to 1, and multiplying this result by MaxSpeed will make the jog speed vary from -MaxSpeed to +MaxSpeed as desired. Note: The analog input can actually accept a signal up to 15VDC, but the analog-to-digital conversion is linear only to -12 to +12 volts. The following document explains this further. How is the home sensor wired when using an SGDH with an NS600? Posted Date: 07/24/2013 Answer: When connecting an NS600 to the SGDH, the NS600 will mask off all of the digital input signals and set them according to Table 3.5 as shown on page 3-6 of the Indexer User's Manual. Pin 44 is configured by the NS600 to act as the /DEC switch (Home Input), which causes deceleration and search for the C-pulse (or whatever method is configured by Pn823.) Note that Pin 44 can be configured for N.O. or N.C. by parameter 80E. To run the homing routine, the Indexer must be placed into Mode 1 by selecting Mode 1 using the Mode 0/1 switch on Pin 3 of the NS600's CN4. After selecting Mode 1, the /Start-Stop; /HOME switch on Pin 5 of the NS600 Cn4 must be set to ON to begin the homing routine. Both of these signals can be configured for N.O. or N.C. by parameters Pn803 and Pn804 respectively. Posted Date: 01/04/2019 Answer: When the resource dialog is opened, this error is shown if the project was compiled with build settings that are greater than the firmware build on the controller, and a function block is included in the project that is newer or has newer behavior than the firmware. For example if the program was compiled with build settings of MP3300iec 3.5.0 and the controller firmware is 3.3.0, and the project contains a function block that was added or modified since version 3.3.0. To correct the issue, recompile with equal (recommended) or lower build settings. Build settings are found by right clicking on the “Resource” node in the “Physical Hardware” section of the tree and selecting “Settings”. How is the download error “The sum of static data size and dynamic data size exceeds the physical available data memory size” fixed? Posted Date: 11/28/2018 Answer: This error is usually generated when retained variables are included in a project and the controller does not support them. The Sigma-7Siec controller does not support retained variables, and the user cannot add them directly; however, retained variables can be added inadvertently by including a user library which employs retain variables. This error is most commonly caused by including the AbsolutePositionManager function block (from the PLCopen_Toolbox) in the project. To clear the error: 1. Remove the AbsolutePositionManager function block. 2. Delete the variable of Data Type AbsolutePositionManager that was created when the function block was added. 3. Recompile the project. Note: This error can also be caused by any user library that is included and contains retained variables. Specifications for the main circuit input terminals are listed in section 3.3.1 of the Sigma II user's manual (YEA-SIA-S800-32.2F). 30W to 200W -> Single-phase 100 to 115V (+10%, -15%) Applying the negative percentage on the low side yields a low voltage of 100V85%=85V and applying the positive percentage on the high side yields a high voltage of 115110%=126.5V The same methods apply to all of the voltage ranges listed for the main circuit power supply and control power supply.
