What options are available to stop the motor using EtherCAT commands? Posted Date: 12/22/2015 Answer: First, decide if the drive should be in "Operation Enabled" state or "Switch On Disabled" state after the stop is commanded. If the drive should be in "Operation Enabled" (servo enabled), then use the Halt command (described below, option A). If the drive should be in "Switch On Disabled" (servo disabled), then use the Quick Stop command (option B). Option A: To use the Halt command: First, set up the halt method, in object 605Dh, as "3". Second, set the torque limit to maximum for the application. Then, issue Halt (bit 8) of the Controlword for the stop. Note: Higher values for torque limit will produce faster stopping. Option B: To use the Quick Stop Command: First, set up the stop method, in object 605Ah, as "3". Second, set the torque limit to maximum for the application. Then, issue the Quick Stop command (with the Controlword) for the stop. Note: Higher values for torque limit will produce faster stopping. Posted Date: 07/15/2015 Answer: Refer to section 5.4 Limiting Torque of SIEPC72082904 Σ-V Series EtherCAT (CoE) Network Module User’s Manual. Precautions for limiting torque: 1. A torque limit setting may result in insufficient torque during acceleration and deceleration. 2. Excessive Position Error Alarm Level Pn520 may need to be increased to prevent the alarm from occurring during normal operations. The excessive position error alarm in a torque limited situation may be due to insufficient torque available to perform the move within the position error level. 3. The SERVOPACK uses the set minimum torque from all of the torque limit methods to limit the output. Regarding all torque limit methods: 1. Torque limit settings are applicable in all modes (Position, Speed, and Torque). Limiting method 1: Torque limited by parameter setting only. Applicable parameters: • Pn402 (CoE object 2402h) Forward Torque Limit • Pn403 (CoE object 2403h) Reverse Torque Limit Setting these parameters enforces torque limit under the following conditions: • The applied torque limit is directional. What is the warranty determination for new product? Posted Date: 05/22/2014 Answer: 1. Yaskawa America, Inc (YAI, Drives & Motion Division (hereinafter D&M), warrants at the time of shipment, new and unused product sold by D&M shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship. D&M warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date the product is first used by Buyer, or 18 months from the date of shipment, whichever occurs first, if any product or part is found by D&M to be defective, D&M will, at its sole discretion and as Buyer's exclusive remedy, either repair, replace or return the purchase price paid to D&M; provided that the subject product is used under normal conditions for which it was designed and installed, operated and maintained in accordance with D&M's instructions and in accordance with generally accepted industrial practices. Products repaired or replaced during the warranty period shall be covered by the foregoing warranty for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days from date of the repair or shipment of the replacement, whichever is longer. D&M warrants, for a period of ninety (90) days, that services shall be performed in a workmanlike manner. What is the life expectancy of a Sigma-5 motor when operating above 40 degrees Celsius (104 F)? Posted Date: 10/18/2010 Answer: The Sigma-5 motor's class F insulation system is rated at 155 degrees Celsius (311 F) maximum internal operating temperature. Every 10 degree C increase of actual temperature above this maximum specification will decrease the life of the insulation system by 50%. The internal temperature of a motor producing rated torque, operating at or below an ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, and mounted to the recommended heat sink should not normally exceed this 155 degrees Celsius limit. Within the rated operating conditions, Yaskawa America Inc. recommends that the bearings be serviced every 20,000 hours. If the ambient temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius, the usable life of the bearings and the motor can be decreased but there is no other information available on the bearing life degradation in elevated temperature conditions. The recommended service schedule can be found in the Safety Precaution pamphlet manual that is shipped with every motor ( Manual No. C230200 00B). What is an A.F50 Alarm? Posted Date: 03/03/2015 Answer: A.F50 is a Servomotor disconnection alarm. Cause: The detected torque is 10% or less, but the commanded torque reference is 90% or more for 10ms. This alarm is not activated in cases of BB due to hardware issues. In those cases, an A.F6 or A.b3 is generated instead. Alarm Reset is available Corrective Actions: Check the servomotor power line wiring. Tighten the motor power connection. Replace the servo amplifier. What could cause motion commands sent to an EtherCAT axis to be executed by a different axis than intended? Posted Date: 03/07/2014 Answer: With an EtherCAT configuration, the connection order of the servopacks is important. EtherCAT Input should be connected to CN11A and EtherCAT Output to the next servopack in the network should be connected at CN11B. If connections are interchanged after initial commissioning, like in the case of a servopack replacement, the master may reassign addresses in a different physical order at the next power-up. To assist this situation, the servopack provides a means to set EtherCAT secondary addresses (aliases) via rotary dip switches S11 and S12.
