	Are there any examples showing NS600 Indexer Application Module(s) integrated with an HMI? Posted Date: 02/22/2005 Answer: Yes. Attached are several documents containing examples and descriptions of HMI products used with the NS600 product. The HMI Summary.pdf document reviews several machine control solutions using an HMI and the Sigma II Indexer application module(s). Up to 16 JUSP-NS600 Sigma II Indexer application modules can be connected to a single HMI via an RS232, RS422, or RS485 serial network (only use RS232 for single-axis applications). In general, any HMI that can communicate using a 7-bit ASCII protocol will work with the Indexer. Typically, the HMI manufacturer (such as Exor or Red Lion) will need to provide a driver in order to communicate with the Indexer . Yaskawa has performed extensive testing on Exor HMIs. An Exor driver for the Indexer has been developed and released. The Setting Up HMI for Indexer Demo.pdf document describes how to set up and demonstrate an Exor HMI and a single axis Indexer demo. The Exor HMI includes the use of an add-on internal PLC. The SingleAxis Demo.zip contains all the necessary files to set up this demonstration. 	Are there any examples of servo sizing for rotary motors? Posted Date: 12/20/2001 Answer: Yes. Rotary motor applications can be sized using Yaskawa SigmaSize software. Yaskawa motors and amplifiers are recommended based on application requirements including load size, transmission type, vertical or horizintal orientation, and expected move profile. 	Are there any examples of a "flying shear" or "rotary placer" program using MW+? Posted Date: 07/22/2002 Answer: Yes. The attached files highlight the core of a flying shear application that is the cam calculations used to smoothly adjust the motor from one cut to the next, providing the optimum profile for the fastest possible machine speed. The key is the Recalc subroutine, which calculates the straight-line profile based on the machine system properties, and superimposes an S Curve profile on the straight line in the portion of the move where the cutter is not in contact with the product. The Excel file provides a quick way to understand the motion profile based on the values entered for the application. By setting these same values in MW+, a wide range of scenarios can be accommodated. It is possible to change the machine cycle (product length) at run time and recalculate the profile for a new product. If the application requires adjustment based on product registration, use the CAM SHIFT or SLAVE OFFSET block for on the fly adjustement. 	Are there a document that shows the type of digital I/O for legend MC whether they are sinking or sourcing? Posted Date: 07/25/2005 Answer: All digital I/O for the Legend MC (SMC-3010) are sinking. For inputs, this means they float high (Logic 1 in software as checked with the "TI" command) until they are pulled to 0 VDC by an external source. For outputs, this means that they float high when they are off and no current flows (Logic 0 in software when checked with the _OP command). When activated, the output point becomes 0 VDC, causing current flow through the output, which has +24 VDC applied to the other side of the output.. The attachment below, shows the wiring diagram. Comments that are preceded with a double slash ( "// Comment" ) are not sent to the controller and are therefore not counted. If an error leads to a specific line number, that line can be viewed by using the LS command. The format of this command is "LS m,n" where m is the first line number to display and n is the last. To look only at line 59, use the command "LS 59,59". 	Are the inputs on Sigma II amplifiers sinking or sourcing (NPN or PNP)? Posted Date: 10/24/2002 Answer: Sigma II amplifiers (SGDH) are capable of accommodating both types of signals based on wiring. If the common wire to the amplifier on pin 47 on CN1 is +24VDC, then the inputs are sinking (0VDC). If the common wire to the amplifier on pin 47 on CN1 is 0VDC, then the inputs are sourcing(+24VDC). In either case the current draw for each input is 50mA.
