	Are example application programs available for the EXOR HMI when using an MP940 Machine Controller? Posted Date: 02/13/2014 Answer: The EXOR Designer/HMI and MotionWorks+/MP940 example programs below are designed for simple plug-and-play use with the MP940 hardware demo units offered through Yaskawa (DEMO4700 and DEMO4701). These programs can also be used as program templates with only a few minor adjustments. Advantages of using these programs include reduced start-up & debug time, faster integration, simple operation testing, and improved programming structure. There is an HMI program example available for each of the following EXOR HMI units: MD00R-02, CP10G-04, CP11G-04, eTOP12, eTOP11, eTOP12, eTOP30 The MotionWorks+ example program below is designed to work with the MP940 demo components and any of the EXOR HMI products listed above. The EXOR HMI should be configured with the "Yaskawa MP/CP Memobus Driver" communicating at 19.2 kbps. Some parameters may need to be changed when applying this example program to a different machine, including: motor base speed, speed limits, gain settings, torque limits, gear ratios, feed constants, machine cycles, and others. 	Are common multimeters able to measure the correct output voltage of the VFD? Posted Date: 04/01/2014 Answer: An inverter provides a PWM output voltage waveform. Most digital multimeters (DMM) measure the peak voltage and calculate the average. In order to obtain an accurate output voltage reading a "true RMS" meter with selectable low pass filter is needed. Other reliable and accurate instruments include an oscilloscope. Many true RMS meters display readings 20 to 30% higher than the drive's controller display as most of true RMS digital multimeters have wide bandwidth. These multimeters are measuring the carrier frequency/switching frequency generated by VFDs. The low pass filter (LPF) is designed to help block unwanted voltages above 1 kHz when measuring AC voltage or AC frequency. The LPF can improve measurement performance on composite sine waves that are typically generated by inverters and variable frequency motor drives. 	An SMC program does not execute or abnormally terminates and there are no messages displayed on YTerm's terminal window. What can be done to troubleshoot this condition? Posted Date: 07/13/2004 Answer: First, make sure that the program was not designed to terminate after a preset number of loops. Monitoring some key system variables should help uncover the problem. For example, if the abort input goes low, the program will terminate. The abort input can be monitored by typing MG_AB in the terminal window of YTerm. A response value of "0" means that the abort input is active. Another reason that the program will terminate is if it executes an EN statement, and the stack (ZS) is zero. The application program will have no choice but to terminate in the event of a command error, and no #CMDERR special label routine exists in the program. System variables to monitor include: TC1 - Tell Error Code - This clears after each interrogation MG _XQn - The line number currently executing, where n is the thread number. MG_SCx - Stop Code, where x is the axis in question MG_TB - Tell Status Byte MG_ED - Returns the last line that had an error. If accessible, YTerm provides a screen that encompasses all of the above mentioned troubleshooting tools. 	A FB08 brownout fault occurs with nominal incoming voltage. What else could cause an FB08 fault? Posted Date: 10/07/2013 Answer: The UB-17 monitors the incoming voltage on the Bypass control board. 	A Bypass Cabinet trips in "FB08" only when in Bypass, not in drive mode.
