The MP2000iec Advanced Programming Workshop is designed to give engineers and programmers the opportunity to successfully organize and program an MP2300Siec controller for a rotary knife application, using MotionWorks IEC - Pro and Yaskawa’s “Toolbox” user libraries. Starting with a desktop demo and a partially completed program, the student will follow the Application Resource Manual to successfully organize and program the application. A realistic demo simulator, consisting of a rotary disc and conveyor, along with a high-speed camera will be used for final testing. Class topics include but are not limited to:

Program the application using a partially completed program template and an application resource manual.
- The student will solve the application using Yaskawa’s user libraries. These include PLCopen Toolbox and Cam Toolbox.
- Significant attention is aimed at these function blocks
- Major concepts to be implemented are
- Latching and buffering a number of master positions based on sensor input
- Master Shift to compensate for products with random spacing
- Generating the cam profile within the controller
- Blending cam profiles together for smooth start and stop
- Each student works alone at his/her own pace with a desktop demo. The instructor acts as a “consultant”, providing limited assistance as necessary.
Continue making further refinements in order to produce a robust and complete application program.
Yaskawa TTS provides a number of training classes for its customers that require the use of low level voltages (120vac, 208vac and 460vac). To ensure a level of safety for the student while working with training class equipment using these voltages, TTS follows an Arc Flash Policy that is consistent with NFPA 70E.
Each student attending class must wear non-melting, untreated, natural fiber long pants.
This class is designed for the programming engineer who already has significant application experience in the MotionWorks IEC programming environment.
1. Complete the class MPiec and Sigma-5 Application Programming (TRM010-MPiecSig5-AppProg) or equivalent. Equivalent programming experience will be considered in place of this class on a case-by-case basis.
To maximize your benefit from this advanced class, it is important that you come with a basic grasp of the SFC programming language, electronic camming, and buffering.
2. Complete the eLearning Video eLV.MotionWorksIEC.01.Pro_SFC or on YouTube.
3. Complete the eLearning Video eLV.MotionWorksIEC.01.CamDemo or on YouTube.
4. Complete the eLearning Video eLV.MotionWorksIEC.06.PLCoTB_PBUF or on YouTube.
5. This class is math-intensive. The student is expected to be able to generate and understand mathematical equations, given the explanations and illustrations in the Application Resource Manual. The Application Resource Manual and starting project may be previewed here.
6. Final programming functionality will be proven using a high-speed camera. This video is an example of what the application looks like in slow motion.

This class runs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on day 1-2, and 8:30 am to 3:00 pm on day 3, with a one-hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks. However, the number of days required to finish depends largely on the student’s existing programming expertise in MotionWorks IEC. The student may leave as soon as all programming requirements are completed. Remember that each student works alone at his/her own pace with a desktop demo while following the instructions in the Application Resource Manual, while the instructor acts as a “consultant”, providing limited assistance as necessary.
The desktop demo may be checked out for the evening, should the student wish to work outside of class.
The class consists of approximately 5% lecture and 95% hands-on exercises.

Continuing Education Units:
Continuing Education Units will be awarded to those students that attend this training class in its entirety and pass the certification test with a score of 100% Yaskawa does not provide partial CEU credits for less than 100% attendance. As an IACET Accredited Provider, Yaskawa America Inc. offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard. Yaskawa America, Inc. is accredited by IACET to offer 1.2 CEUs for this program.

Yaskawa reserves the right to cancel a scheduled class at anytime due to low student enrollment. In this situation the student will be asked to reschedule or the tuition cost will be refunded. Yaskawa is not liable for any charges incurred by the customer (i.e.; airline, hotel, and rental car) due to cancellation.
A student may cancel their enrollment more than one week before the start of the class with no penalty. A student wishing to cancel their enrollment within one week of the class start date will be subject to these charges:
- The cancellation fee for end users, if canceling within one week for a scheduled factory class is 50% of the total class tuition fee.
- The cancellation fee for Drives and Motion Distributors, if canceling within one week of a scheduled factory training class is 100% of the total tuition fee.
- The cancellation fee for end users and distributors, if canceling an on-site class within three weeks of a scheduled class date is 100% of the class tuition and logistical fees.
