Self-configuration can be executed by either turning the power ON with the CNFG and INIT switches ON, or it can be executed from MotionWorks (MPE720). The procedure for executing self-configuration using the CNFG and INIT switches is shown below.
The allocated I/O register numbers may change when self-configuration is executed, if modules are not in the same slot as originally configured.
Self-configuration eliminates the need to make settings for Module definitions, making it possible to perform startup work easily and quickly for the MP2300 system. Optional Modules are recognized and definition files are generated automatically.
Input registers and output registers are automatically allocated to I/O. Allocation is performed in ascending order from the Module with the lowest option slot number. The lowest slot number is nearest the CPU (The CPU is considered slot #0).
For networks, such as Mechatrolink and DeviceNet, information about the station configuration is collected and definition files are generated automatically.
See the attached .PDF file for a diagram of the self-configuration including flow chart and further information.
