FAQ: Is it possible to run MotionWorks IEC via Remote Desktop?

Yes, however, the software cannot be launched remotely due to licensing restrictions. This limitation can be overcome by following one of the methods described below.
1) Use other remote control software, such as RealVNC. http://www.realvnc.com/
2) Have someone local to the PC with MotionWorks IEC start the software. MotionWorks IEC cannot be launched via Remote Desktop, but it can be operated remotely once it is running. For MotionWorks IEC 2.x, the license is checked the first time a project is opened. If MotionWorks IEC 2.x is configured to open the last project, the software will operate normally. If the software was not configured to open the last project, or this is the first time MotionWorks IEC 2.x is executed, the local user must start a new project first.
3) Configure the PC to automatically start MotionWorks IEC upon boot up.
