Meet Jack Bailey

Jack Bailey is a Senior Sales Engineer at Yaskawa. Before being hired at Yaskawa, Jack Bailey was working at Siemens. He recently shared some insights on his tenure with us.

Q: What year did you start at Yaskawa?
A: 1984

Q: Why did you come to Yaskawa?
A: I was recruited by Kelly King to create an industrial motor sales force.

Q: What were your expectations when you started at Yaskawa?
A: To create a demand for MagneTek motors in a 5 state area. We were not much in the drive business at the beginning.

Q: Are you still in the same job position as when you started?
A: I have been sales engineer, regional sales manager, and national sales manager. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer, I asked Mark Bernicky if I could go back to field sales so I could stay closer to home. He was kind enough to support the change, and I have been in that job ever since.

Q: What makes you stay?
A: I love doing applications and solving problems with the highest quality VFD on the planet. I like the people and I like the product. I love what I do. I would not want to do anything else.

Q: What were the biggest benefits you got from your career at Yaskawa?
A: Relationships with Yaskawa associates and business friendships with my customers. I also learn new things every day.

Q: What are your proudest individual accomplishments?
A: Taking a 5 state area from $700K to $5M in about 3 years, in the early days of MagneTek, and being regarded by my peers and customers as a drive expert.

Q: What comes to you top-of-mind when you think Yaskawa?
A:  Long life.

Q: Why do you think customers should choose Yaskawa?
A: We are easy to do business with.

Q: What advice would you give someone just starting out at Yaskawa?
A: Learn something new every day. Ask the experts, we have a ton. Don’t let a question go unanswered.
