Use an AC reactor when attaching a reactor to the power supply side, and a DC reactor when attaching to the series + and - bus terminals on the inverter. They are both equally effective. They can also be used in combination. Refer to the attached technical note from a manufacturer of AC chokes and DC reactors for a detailed explanation of solutions to harmonic noise in AC drives.
