MotionWorks IEC

Overview

Through the use of Yaskawa's IEC61131-3 programming environment, MotionWorks IEC Express and MotionWorks IEC Pro enable programmers to take advantage of several standard programming languages within a single development package.

These languages work predictably and seamlessly with one another: Ladder Logic (perfect for digital sensory data representation), Structured Text (great for assignment of mathematical algorithms), and Function Block Diagrams (best suited for machine control). Variables and outputs can be referenced between different POUs (Programming Organization Units), providing the ideal automation development environment.

MotionWorks IEC is an essential part of Yaskawa’s achievement of Singular Control: the ability to interchangeably operate articulated robots, gantry robots, servo axes and variable frequency drives from a single motion controller, without the need to change your system’s operating code.

	Is it possible to verify if an axis is present on the system via the MotionWorks IEC application program? Posted Date: 10/15/2010 Answer: Yes, there are a couple ways. An ErrorID of 4625 (invalid axis) will be output if a PLCopen function block is executed with an AXIS_REF axis which is not defined or not present on a system. The example in the attached pdf shows logic to indicate that an axis is not present on the system. Another method, available in firmware version 2.0 and higher, is to read parameter 1330, which indicates the Mechatrolink communication status of the specified axis. 	Is it possible to use the second Ethernet port, CN11B, on the MP2600iec as a separate, independent network connection? Posted Date: 03/18/2013 Answer: Yes it is possible. The same protocols are supported on both ports. However, CN11B can only be configured through the web interface and is not supported by the Hardware Configuration software to setup individual addressing of Modbus and Ethernet variables. If your network configuration does not allow a PC connection, use CN11A as the main network connection to an HMI, or other external Ethernet/Modbus devices and CN11B as the programming port for MotionWorks IEC. The default IP address for this port is 192.168.2.1 NOTE: The ethernet ports must be on different subnets to operate properly. 	Is it possible to run MotionWorks IEC via Remote Desktop? Posted Date: 04/05/2012 Answer: Yes, however, the software cannot be launched remotely due to licensing restrictions. This limitation can be overcome by following one of the methods described below. 1) Use other remote control software, such as RealVNC. http://www.realvnc.com/ 2) Have someone local to the PC with MotionWorks IEC start the software. MotionWorks IEC cannot be launched via Remote Desktop, but it can be operated remotely once it is running. For MotionWorks IEC 2.x, the license is checked the first time a project is opened. If MotionWorks IEC 2.x is configured to open the last project, the software will operate normally. If the software was not configured to open the last project, or this is the first time MotionWorks IEC 2.x is executed, the local user must start a new project first. 3) Configure the PC to automatically start MotionWorks IEC upon boot up. a.
