How can the P5/GPD506 parameter settings be adjusted or changed while the bypass drive is running in bypass mode? Posted Date: 11/29/2005 Answer: The Test/Normal switch on the front of the Bypass panel is provided to test or set up the drive without actually connecting the AC drive to the motor. When in Test mode, the contactor on the input of the inverter is energized bringing 3 phase power to the inverter but the output contactor is left de-energized. The Digital Operator can then be used for programming or to issue a run command so that the inverter can be checked for normal operation. Note: A fault message (Fault code XXX message) will be displayed on the Digital Operator when the Test/Normal switch is in the "Test" position while in Drive mode. The Test/Normal switch should be in the "Normal" position when in Drive mode. The Test mode can be used when the Drive/Off/Bypass switch is in either the "Off" or "Bypass" position. GF - Fault Code Description Posted Date: 06/08/2007 Answer: Digital Operator Display Text: GF Ground Fault Description: Designed to protect the inverter. Inverter output grounding current has exceeded 50% of the inverter rated current. Possible Cause(s): Motor lead shorted to ground, DCCT defective. Corrective Action: Remove the motor and run the inverter without the motor. Check the motor for a phase to ground short. Check the output current with a clamp on meter to verify the DCCT reading. Do Yaskawa drives have a lock-out prohibiting setting or changing of parameters? Posted Date: 06/08/2007 Answer: Yes, most all Yaskawa drives posses parameter security that helps prevent inadvertent setting changes. The instruction manuals for the drive explain this function in more detail. Use the following instructions to obtain write access for the drives described below: For the V7 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "4" or '5' allow all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" through "3" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the P5 or PC5 or GPD506 drive: Parameter n001 controls the access to all of the parameters. A setting of "0" allows no parameters to be changed, while settings of "3" allows all parameters to be changed. Settings "1" and "2" are increments of the level of access allowed. For the G5 or GPD515 - General Purpose Drive , G5HHP - Hi Horsepower G5 Drive: Parameter A1-01 controls access to all parameters that are available in the control method being used. A setting of "Advanced" in this parameter allows all of the available parameters of the current control method to be changed. Some parameters are not available in some control methods. C21 unit is connected and runs in Hand and Auto fine. But, the input circuit breaker is tripping while attempting to run in Bypass mode. Why? The customer will need to adjust trip point based on the application type, either fan or pump. Circuit breaker will need to be adjusted until motor runs in Bypass mode without tripping.
