	How do I cure the "Socket Communication Applet Unavailable" error? Posted Date: 06/21/2013 Answer: The web interface for MPiec controllers provides a quick means to check system status and perform test moves via an Ethernet connection. The Machine Operations hyperlink will allow the user to manipulate and exercise the motion axes. On some computer systems, an error message will be generated that indicates "Socket Communication Applet Unavailable". This is likely caused by a missing or incompatible version of the Java Runtime Engine as an add-on to the web browser. The web interface requires Java version 1.4.2 or higher from Sun Microsystems. Combinations involving controller firmware, operating system, explorer version and Java version tested by Yaskawa are shown in the attached. If you continue to experience problems, install the most recent version which is supported by your MPiec Controller. 	How can the controller error “The PLC could not perform a warm start, so the PLC performed a cold start.” be avoided so that the retained variables are not reset? Posted Date: 02/26/2018 Answer: When a project has local retained variables, and only a boot project is downloaded to the controller (by using the More button in the project control dialog), the controller will display this error after it is rebooted. To avoid this, make all retained variables global, or when downloading, download both the project and the boot project by using the Download button in the project control dialog. This is a known issue that will be fixed in a future release. 	How can I determine what devices are communicating via Ethernet with my MPiec Series Controller? Posted Date: 03/26/2015 Answer: With the release of version 2.5.0 firmware, it is possible to view Ethernet debugging information via the web browser on the Debugging output tab. This information will list the number of connections active, and available. A new controller alarm has also been added to indicate if the number of available "File Descriptors" is getting low. 	Do Yaskawa's MPiec Series Controllers have a real-time clock? Posted Date: 03/12/2014 Answer: Yes, the real-time clock is available on all MPXXXXiec controllers. The clock can be set via the web server, or by using the Y_SetRTC function block available in the YMotion firmware library. From the web server, you have the option to set the date and time directly or synchronize the clock with a network time server. The real time clock can be retrieved in the IEC application program with the RealTimeClock function block available in the Yaskawa Toolbox. 	Can MotionWorks IEC Project Archives be created Offline? Posted Date: 02/22/2017 Answer: Yes. MotionWorks IEC development software revision 2.5.0 and higher can create Project Archives while offline. The offline Project Archive feature is very useful when a machine has been put into production and small changes to the IEC application program are required. By sending a Project Archive file to the machine user, maintenance technicians can load the updated program into the controller using the MPiec Controller’s built-in Web Server. No other programming software is required. Please see the attached PDF for steps to create a Project Archive offline. 	Can an MPiec Series Controller be programmed to measure the length a product passing on a conveyor? Posted Date: 03/10/2014 Answer: It is possible to use one sensor to capture the encoder position of the motor as it detects the leading and trailing edges of the product as it passes below the sensor. One will need to wire the sensor output to two separate high speed latch inputs on the Servopack and change the polarity of the active signal for one of them. Then use the MC_TouchProbe function block to capture the encoder positions. Finally, subtract the two captured positions to calculate the result. See the attached document for details. 	At what uplink speeds is the MP2600iec controller capable of communicating? Posted Date: 09/22/2016 Answer: The MP2600iec uses 100Base-T (100Mbit/s) Ethernet speed. The MP2600iec is the only MPiec series controller that cannot inherently operate at both 10Base-T and 100Base-T speeds. In order to attain 10Base-T functionality with the MP2600iec, an Ethernet dual-speed hub or Network switch must be used. These devices make use of an internal two-port switch, bridging the 10 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s segments. These devices are available from third-party vendors such as NETGEAR, Linksys, or WAGO.
