Iron-core coil and magnet track components

Iron core FW linear motors are composed of moving coils with laminated iron-core and single sided stationary magnet tracks. The moving coil of the FW linear motor is composed of laminated iron core and prewound coil bobbins inserted into the slots located on the laminated iron cores. The entire coil unit is permanently encapsulated in a thermally conductive resin body to give structural rigidity. The magnet track of the FW is made of a row of rare earth magnets accurately placed on one side of the nickelized steel carrier plate. Stainless steel magnet covers guard against minor accidental damage to the magnets.

	What is the warranty determination for new product? Posted Date: 05/22/2014 Answer: 1. Yaskawa America, Inc (YAI, Drives & Motion Division (hereinafter D&M), warrants at the time of shipment, new and unused product sold by D&M shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship. D&M warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date the product is first used by Buyer, or 18 months from the date of shipment, whichever occurs first, if any product or part is found by D&M to be defective, D&M will, at its sole discretion and as Buyer's exclusive remedy, either repair, replace or return the purchase price paid to D&M; provided that the subject product is used under normal conditions for which it was designed and installed, operated and maintained in accordance with D&M's instructions and in accordance with generally accepted industrial practices. Products repaired or replaced during the warranty period shall be covered by the foregoing warranty for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days from date of the repair or shipment of the replacement, whichever is longer. D&M warrants, for a period of ninety (90) days, that services shall be performed in a workmanlike manner. Buyer's sole remedy for a breach of this service warranty is limited to further service or a refund or credit of amounts paid by Buyer, at Seller's option. 2. The linear encoder must output a 1Vpp analog sin/cos waveform. The default setting of Pn280 is 0. Alarm A.08 (linear encoder scale pitch setting error) will occur at power-up if this parameter is left at setting 0. 	On a linear motor x-x'-y gantry system, what is the best method to control the two x-axes? Posted Date: 06/06/2003 Answer: The preferred method is to set-up a master/slave relationship using two axes of a motion controller. The motion controller must monitor the linear encoder feedback from both the x and x'. The x' axis must track the position of the x axis. Another alternative is to set-up a master/slave relationship using only one axis of a motion controller. The motion controller would monitor the linear encoder feedback from the x axis and command the x' axis. The x' axis would follow the encoder output directly from the x axis encoder output. Caution should be taken when implementing this method, since each amplifier operates in a different control method and different loop updates may exist. The following example lists the necessary SGDH amplifier parameter settings for a linear motor master/slave application (assuming a linear encoder grating pitch of 20 microns). Master Axis Parameter Settings: Pn000.1=2 Sets amplifier in Force Control. Pn280=20 Linear encoder grating pitch is 20 micron. 	Is the MP-940 capable of operating Yaskawa linear motors? Posted Date: 01/14/2005 Answer: Yes, it is possible when using MotionWorks. The only difference between using a rotary motor and a linear motor with the MP-940 is to select Linear Type vs Rotary Type in the SVA section of Module Configuration. By doing this, the additional parameters for Linear Motors are displayed in the "ServoPack" tab. There are three, however, that will require immediate attention to allow motion to occur. Please reference the users manuals for information regarding all other parameters. SGDH Parameter Settings: 1) Pn280: Linear Scale Pitch (micrometers), the ServoPack will remain in an alarm state until this is set. 2) Pn483: Forward Force Limit (% of rated), factory default is 30% (for safety), set appropriately for application. 2) Pn484: Reverse Force Limit (% of rated), factory default is 30% (for safety), set appropriately for application. 	How are the Electronic Gear Ratio parameters, Pn202 and Pn203, set for linear motors? Posted Date: 07/25/2005 Answer: The positioning resolution of the linear motor when used with the Sigma II SGDH servo amplifier in position mode is equal to the linear encoder scale pitch divided by 256. For a 20 micron pitch linear encoder (i.e. Renishaw RGH22B), the positioning resolution is 20 micron/256. The incoming position reference is scaled by the Electronic Gear Ratio. Pn202 is the Electronic Gear Ratio numerator, set to a default of 4. Pn203 is the Electronic Gear Ratio denominator, set to a default of "1". Therefore, with these these default settings, for every reference input pulse, the linear motor will move (4/1) x (20 microns/256) or 0.3125 microns, assuming a 20 micron pitch linear encoder. The Electronic Gear Ratio can be changed to allow for "friendlier" positioning units. For example, assuming a 20 micron pitch linear encoder: 1.) The desired position reference resolution is one micron (or 0.001mm). For every reference pulse, the linear motor moves one micron. To achieve this resolution, set Pn202=256 and Pn203=20. Now, for every reference pulse, the linear motor will move (256/20) x (20 microns/256) or one micron. 2.) The desired position reference resolution is 0.001 inch. Set Pn202=8128 and Pn203=25. Now for every reference pulse, the linear motor will move (8128/25) x (20 microns/256) x (25.4 inches/0.001mm), which is equal to 0.001 inch. 	Can the linear encoder be mounted "backwards" (positive direction of linear encoder opposite to positive direction of linear motor)? Posted Date: 04/28/2003 Answer: Yes, the linear encoder can be mounted "backwards" relative to the linear motor, it is good design practice to insure that the motor and encoder have the same positive direction reference. Normally, the linear motor and encoder would be oriented such that the positive direction of each is in the same direction. The positive direction of the linear motor is in the direction in which the motor cables/connectors protrude. Generally, this holds true for the linear encoder as well (as it does for Renishaw and Heidenhain). Please consult the linear encoder manufacturer in regards to positive orientation. If the linear encoder is mounted "backwards" relative to the linear motor, one of the following MUST be done in order for the linear motor system to function properly. 1. Rewire the linear encoder cable. Swap the "A" signal wires with the corresponding "B" signal wires. 2. The following is only applicable for Sigma II SGDH type servo amplifiers with the Y213 modification (Y213 modification is for use with linear motors only). Set user parameter Pn080.1=1 (B-phase progression). This will allow for proper commutation of the linear motor. However, the positive direction of the motor will now be in the direction opposite in which the motor cables/connectors protrude. To change the motor direction, set Pn000.0=1. 3. The following is only applicable for Legend SGDG type servo amplifiers. Set SW1 function selection switch no.4 (Linear Scale Polarity Reversal) to OFF (B-phase progression). This will allow for proper commutation of the linear motor. However, the positive direction of the motor will now be in the direction opposite in which the motor cables/connectors protrude. To change the motor direction, set SW1 function selection switch no.6 (Feedback Pulse B-phase Reversal) to OFF.
