What is the warranty determination for new product? Posted Date: 05/22/2014 Answer: 1. Yaskawa America, Inc (YAI, Drives & Motion Division (hereinafter D&M), warrants at the time of shipment, new and unused product sold by D&M shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship. D&M warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date the product is first used by Buyer, or 18 months from the date of shipment, whichever occurs first, if any product or part is found by D&M to be defective, D&M will, at its sole discretion and as Buyer's exclusive remedy, either repair, replace or return the purchase price paid to D&M; provided that the subject product is used under normal conditions for which it was designed and installed, operated and maintained in accordance with D&M's instructions and in accordance with generally accepted industrial practices. Products repaired or replaced during the warranty period shall be covered by the foregoing warranty for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days from date of the repair or shipment of the replacement, whichever is longer. D&M warrants, for a period of ninety (90) days, that services shall be performed in a workmanlike manner. Buyer's sole remedy for a breach of this service warranty is limited to further service or a refund or credit of amounts paid by Buyer, at Seller's option. 2. D&M's warranty obligation shall be conditioned upon receipt by D&M of written notice of any alleged defects within sixty (60) days after discovery. D&M will not be responsible for unauthorized repairs to any products, even if defective. Unlike many networks, both MECHATROLINK-II and MECHATROLINK-III allow for a portion of the cyclic bandwidth to be allocated for in-cycle retries. Should a packet become corrupted by noise, the hardware automatically resends the packet within the same cycle. What are the differences between MECHATROLINK-II and MECHATROLINK-III? Posted Date: 11/05/2013 Answer: There are many differences including speed, slave count, and behavior. These differences arise because the physical layer differs and are summarized in the table attached to this document (.PDF file). These differences mean that while MECHATROLINK-III performs better, the motion programmer must be more thoughtful in choosing a network topology and configuring the network. With MECHATROLINK-III, the time it takes for a master to send a packet to a slave and receive the slave's reply is called the response time, and it depends on the number of intermediate slave nodes, the packet size and the sum of the cable lengths. The sum of the response times for each slave and the number of retries configured determines the minimum communication cycle. Consequently, for the same number of nodes, a star topology will have a lower minimum communication cycle than a line topology. The network configuration for MECHATROLINK-III contains the expected response times for each slave node, the number of retries and the communication cycle. As a result, the network configuration depends on how the slave nodes are physically connected. Changing the physical connection without updating the configuration may cause the controller to be unable to communicate with a slave node. The motion programmer can increase the expected response times to allow the system to work with different topologies, but doing so may result in a slower communication cycle. Is it possible to use the Legend amplifiers with an SVA module, and if so, with what control method? Posted Date: 07/25/2005 Answer: The Legend amplifier is a torque amplifier with a current control interface (+/- 10 volt.) In Torque mode, the SVA-02 module provides only an open loop torque reference output. It does not close a speed or position loop in this mode. This mode is ideal for web tensioning applications that never need to position. For other applications requiring torque and positioning, Yaskawa recommends and SVA / SVB interface to a Sigma II or a Torque control application module such as the SMC-3010 with the Legend amplifier. Is it possible to achieve more consistent I/O updates for high speed applications with the Mechatrolink Phoenix Bus Coupler and the MP2000 series products? Posted Date: 11/30/2010 Answer: There may be a delay in the in IO response when using the Phoenix bus coupler over the Mechatrolink. This could be caused by a large amount of IO being used and the time it takes for the Mechatrolink to update the IO status. As a result we recommend a phased approach to improve the IO responsiveness with the following steps: 1. I/O connected to the main body of the coupler will be faster than the additional slice I/O because of the additional time required by the backplane for processing of the remote I/O. Use main body I/O where possible for the most critical I/O. 2. Update the module's update rate to sync with the High speed scan program being used. If using an MP2000iec controller, be sure the I/O driver is set to update at an appropriate interval (synchronize with a task that corresponds to the desired I/O refresh rate.) 3. Move the critical I/O to an LIO card on the MP2000 series controller. 4. Move the critical output to the COIN connection on the LIO or CNTR-01 card. This is also referred to as the High Speed Output function on MP2000iec controllers. This is a hardware level function that can operate the output within 13 uSec of the encoder on the LIO card meeting an exact position value. To address as bits in a ladder program for axis 1, the address are IB802E2, IB802E6, IB802E7, IB802E8 for HOME, EXT1, EXT2, EXT3 respectively. The state of over-travel inputs can also be monitored, if they are enabled. They are bits 0 and 1 of the input register above. How is automatic (self) configuration performed on an MP-2300? Posted Date: 12/19/2006 Answer: Self-configuration can be executed by either turning the power ON with the CNFG and INIT switches ON, or it can be executed from MotionWorks (MPE720). The procedure for executing self-configuration using the CNFG and INIT switches is shown below. The allocated I/O register numbers may change when self-configuration is executed, if modules are not in the same slot as originally configured. Self-configuration eliminates the need to make settings for Module definitions, making it possible to perform startup work easily and quickly for the MP2300 system. Optional Modules are recognized and definition files are generated automatically. Input registers and output registers are automatically allocated to I/O. Allocation is performed in ascending order from the Module with the lowest option slot number. The lowest slot number is nearest the CPU (The CPU is considered slot #0).
